Think Inside The Cube

Never mind thinking outside the square. Apple has gone inside the cube for its latest technological wonder. The G4 Cube is a super computer capable of a staggering three billion calculations per second. It plays DVD movies too. In a triumph of form and function, the brain - called the Velocity Engine - is packed into a 20cm graphite-colored cube suspended in a clear acrylic housing that does away with the need for a noisy cooling fan for near-silent operation. It's less than a quarter of the size of its predecessor, the G4, and it has matching accessories. From $3495 via www.apple.com.au
